FAQ

  • What are the Annual PeerSpot Awards?

The PeerSpot Awards are an annual ranking of the top Enterprise IT products in three categories:

    1. The Peer Awards are our most prestigious recognition, and are based on authentic, timely user reviews from verified reviewers. The awards are given to the top three solutions in the eligible categories, as determined by PeerSpot’s ranking methodology.
    2. The Rising Star Awards recognize the top 25 products that have significantly increased in percent of traffic volume on the PeerSpot review site over the past 12 months in selected Peer Award categories.
    3. The User’s Choice Awards provide users an opportunity to vote for their favorite products from selected Peer Award categories.
  • What are the eligibility criteria for products to be included in the awards?

Products included in the awards must have a minimum of 8 reviews in the past 12 months. For this year’s awards, the timeframe is from September 2021 through August 2022.

  • What is the methodology for determining Peer Award winners?

Awards are based on a 12-month average of PeerSpot’s ranking algorithm as outlined below.

    • The top 3 vendors in each category receive award (#1 = gold, #2 = silver, #3 = bronze).
    • For each of Reviews, Views and Comparisons:
      • The product with the highest count in each ranking factor gets a maximum 18 points.
      • Every other product gets assigned points based on its total in proportion to the #1 product in that ranking factor. For example, if a product has 80% of the number of reviews compared to the product with the most reviews, then the product’s points for reviews would be 18 * 80% = 14.4.
    • Both Rating and Words/Review are awarded on a fixed linear scale:
      • For Rating, the maximum score is 28 points awarded linearly between 6-10.
        • 6 or below = 0 points
        • 7.5 = 10.5 points
        • 9.0 = 21 points
        • 10 = 28 points
      • For Words/Review, the maximum score is 18 points awarded linearly between 0-900 words.
        • 600 words = 12 points
        • 750 words = 15 points
        • 900 or more words = 18 points
      • If a product has fewer than ten reviews, the point contribution for Rating and Words/Review is reduced by one- third.
    • Reviews that are more than 12 months old, as well as those written by resellers, are completely excluded from the ranking algorithm.
  • How are reviews verified?

PeerSpot’s Review Authentication Policy and Process helps to preserve information credibility and content integrity. The process includes the following measures:

    • User reviews must come from real, relevant users. We confirm that reviews are from real users that have used the product/service, or have evaluated it for the purpose of using it for their company, in the past 12 months.
    • We require vendors to identify themselves. Employees of tech vendors must identify themselves during registration so that site visitors are able to distinguish between information contributed by vendors versus that contributed by tech professionals.
    • We verify every registered user. New users must register with their LinkedIn profile or company email address, which helps us to prevent vendors or non-users from posting fake reviews.
  • How are the Annual Peer Awards different from the monthly Leader and Number One awards?

The Leader recognition is given to any product that earns more than 50 points in a given month based on the methodology outlined above.

The Number One recognition is given to the product with the most points in its category in a given month based on the methodology outlined above.

  • How are the Rising Star Awards determined?

The Rising Star Award recognizes the top 25 products that had their first review posted within the past 12 months and have seen a significant increase in the percentage of traffic volume on the PeerSpot review site over that same time period. Categories for the Rising Star Awards are selected from Peer Award categories.

Not all categories will have a product recognized as a Rising Star.

  • What is the User’s Choice Award?

While other PeerSpot awards are based on an objective algorithm that leverages vetted user reviews or growth in traffic volume, the User’s Choice Award gives users an opportunity to vote on their favorite products selected from PeerSpot’s most popular solutions categories.

Not all categories will have a product eligible for the User’s Choice Award.

  • When will the User’s Choice Award voting start and when will it end?

We are planning to have a 30-day voting window, commencing in mid-August and ending in mid-September.

  • Can vendors win in more than one category?

Yes, vendors can win in any category where they have an eligible product.

  • Can products win in more than one category?

No, products are assigned to a single category and will only be eligible to win in that category.

  • When will awards be announced and where can I view a list of winners?

PeerSpot includes categories that have at least 5 products that have received a minimum of 8 reviews in the past 12 months.

  • Is there anything a vendor can do to increase chances for winning an award?

Yes! The Peer Awards are based on verified customer reviews about your products (refer to ranking methodology above for details). By increasing your product reviews, the length of the review, and the number of views for the review, you can increase your chance of winning an award.

While the Rising Star Award is a reflection of the past year’s traffic for selected products on our review site, there are things you can do to increase your chance of winning in the next year such as driving customers and prospects to your product’s review on the PeerSpot site for information, competitive comparisons, etc.

In addition, PeerSpot offers content and several services that can help you prepare to win. Meet with your PeerSpot account manager to develop a review strategy.
